Three Christian Scholars Group members honored

The chair of the Christian Scholars Group on Christian-Jewish Relations has recently announced that three of its members have received the following awards and honors:

(1) Jean-Pierre Ruiz was awarded the 2001 Virgilio Elizondo Award for distinguished achievement in theology.  The award was presented by the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States.

(2) Clark Williamson was honored by the Christian Theological Seminary upon his retirement, after a number of years of distinguished service.

(3) John Pawlikowski was elected President of the International Conference of Christians and Jews at their recent meeting in Riga, Latvia.

The Christian Scholars Group has been working for over thirty years on the development of more adequate Christian theologies of the church’s relationship to Judaism and the Jewish people.  Its ongoing scholarly work is currently sponsored by the Center for Christian-Jewish Learning.
