FB96 SYSTEMS AND NETWORK SERVICES Boston College Fact Book, 1995-1996 Contact: factbook@bc.edu Last Updated: Jun 26 1995 ================================================================ SYSTEMS AND NETWORK SERVICES The Systems and Network Services Department at Boston College is responsible for the operation and support of the IBM and Digital mainframe computers, located on the fifth floor of the O'Neill Library, as well as the support and operations of the campus backbone network and sub-nets. The Systems and Network Operations group maintains a twenty-four hour per day, seven day per week operations schedule in support of academic and administrative computing and printing and networking needs. The Systems Services staff is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of the operating systems software, and for hardware problem detection and reporting. The Network Services staff is responsible for the network management aspects of the campus network, as well as support for network problem resolution. Support is also provided for the activities of Management Information Systems and Information Processing Support, as well as limited support directly to mainframe computing users.
