Systems and Network Services

The Systems and Network Services department at Boston College is responsible for the operation and support of the IBM and Digital mainframe computers, located on the fifth floor of the O'Neill Library, as well as the operation and support of the campus backbone network and sub-nets. The Systems and Network Operations group maintains a twenty-four hour per day, seven day per week operations schedule in support of academic and administrative computing, printing, and networking needs. The Systems Services staff is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of the operating systems software, and for hardware problem detection and reporting. The Network Services staff is responsible for campus network management and provides support for network problem resolution. Support is also provided to Management Information Systems and Information Processing Support, and in some cases, directly to mainframe computing users.
