Areas of Interest:
Fr. Sachs teaching and research has focused on creation and eschatology, theological anthropology, the doctrine of God and the theology of Karl Rahner.

About:
After graduating from Boston College (AB, Mathematics), Fr. Sachs entered the New England Province of the Jesuits. After formation that included another degree at BC (MA, Philosophy) and theology studies at Weston School of Theology (MDiv) he was ordained in 1976 and served at Holy Trinity parish in Georgetown for two years. During the next six years, he completed a dissertation in Tübingen (DrTheol, Spirit and Life: The Pneumatology and Christian Spirituality of Hans Urs von Balthasar) under the direction of Professor (now Cardinal) Walter Kasper. After two years at Fairfield University, Fr. Sachs joined the faculty of Weston School of Theology (now the Weston Jesuit Department of the STM) in 1986, where he has greatly enjoyed teaching and learning in the classroom, and serving as Academic Dean. In the wider church community, spiritual direction, retreat work and a small, local intentional community are other important parts of his ministry. On a more personal note, Fr. Sachs loves to cook and enjoys the great music and dance we have in Boston. He is especially delighted to have returned to BC in 2008, the same year his nephew Matt arrived as a freshman.
