Living a Christian Life in an Age of Distraction

LECTURE

February 17, 2010

Presenter: Thomas Massaro, S.J., STM professor of moral theology

In the pages of America magazine (6/22/09), Fr. Massaro has wondered whether our corporate fascination with the latest handheld technological marvels may in fact be resulting moment by moment in "opportunities missed... for human connection and sheer joy."  Do the tools of modern life make us more or less likely to be in touch with one another and in communion with our God?  Is our faith strengthened or threatened in what he terms this “age of distraction"?

Cosponsored by The Church in the 21st Century Center and the School of Theology and Ministry
