Assistant Director for the Office of Religious Education

 

A full-time position exists for an Assistant Director for the Office of Religious Education who will work in in collaboration with the Director of Religious Education in prioritizing the goals and objectives of the office and will work in collaboration with the Office of Catholic Schools and with parishes throughout the Archdiocese. 

Essential functions of the position will include but not limited to, planning, developing, and coordinating both initial and on-going training for parish catechetical leaders, including in-services and retreats; developing standard programs and certification levels for volunteer catechists and teachers; and assist parishes with issues regarding catechesis for Pre-K, K-6, adolescent catechesis and sacramental preparation.

A Master of Arts in Religious Studies, Theology, or Religious Education is required.  Also required is a minimum of five years of experience in Parish and/or Diocesan Religious Education.  Experience must include principles and dimensions of adult faith formation, catechesis and youth ministry. 

A thorough knowledge of the Roman Catholic Church and teachings and respect for the Catholic vision on important social, moral, and ethical issues is required.
