Position Title:

Assistant Director of PACT  

Department:

Overview:

Contribute actively to all dimensions of the PACT program including Service, Study, Community Living and Spirituality  

Reports to:

Director of PACT  

Essential Duties:

1. Provide ongoing support to the PACT teachers through regular, at least once monthly, visits to their classrooms to observe their teaching, mentoring, and any other support or advice as needed. Grade PACT (Secondary) portfolios each semester.
2. Provide support for the ongoing development of the community and spirituality dimensions of the PACT program by visiting each community at least once per month to ensure that the program's ideals of community living and spirituality are fostered and maintained.
3. Maintain regular communication with Principals/Vice Principals and PACT Mentors through formal meetings during each monthly school visit. Provide monthly reports on these visits and meeting to the Program Director. In consultation with the PACT Director, maintain regular contact with officials in Catholic diocesan school offices.
4. Teach one of the major courses for the PACT Secondary program each summer.
5. Assist with recruitment and selection of candidates for the PACT program requiring attendance at Volunteer and Service Fairs throughout the US and travel to regional centers for interviews. Assist with locating and supervising housing for the PACT teachers.  

Marginal Duties:

1. Perform all other duties as may be required.  

Education and Experience Required:

Doctoral or Master's degree in Education or Pastoral Ministry/Spirituality from an accredited institution required, preferably with some experience in conduct of research, familiarity with current developments in high school curriculum and adolescent psychology and experience in the promotion of spirituality of adolescents and young adults and/or a combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years' classroom teaching at the high school level. Demonstrated enthusiasm for, and energetic commitment to, the ideals of Catholic education. Demonstrated participation in formal activities for one's own professional and faith formation and, faith formation for teachers for Catholic schools. Demonstrated familiarity with traditions, contemporary scholarship, and current developments in research in Catholic education. Membership and regular participation in professional associations and activities, including those promoting personal faith developments. Commitment to equal opportunity in recruiting candidates for the program. Experience, preferably as a participant, in such programs as UCCE teaching programs, and Jesuit Volunteers or other similar faith based service programs. Teacher certification in one high school teaching content area. Highly developed inter-personal skills with colleagues and experience with young adults.
