Full-time position in campus ministry. Assists students and community members with spirtual needs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
|
Pastoral Care Responsibilities
•Provides pastoral care and counseling, spiritual direction and outreach to members of the College community.
•Presence at Sunday worship in the Chapel of Mary during the academic year as a pastoral presence to the students.
•Leads the College community in public prayer, including prayer services as well as invocations at various College functions.
•Participates in the Moreau Student Ministry Program by serving as a mentor and offer spiritual direction for Student Ministers.
•Participates in the Senior Retreat. Provides spiritual direction and offers retreat sessions to the retreatants during the weekend retreat.
Community Service Responsibilities
•Coordinates the Into the Streets (ITS) Program, providing ongoing theological reflection by which students develop a critical social consciousness through an educational process that incorporates active experience, reflection and analysis while responding to the needs of the neighboring communities. Arranges for outside speakers who facilitate the reflection process with the ITS students. Chooses the student coordinators for each of the ITS sites, offers a four day leadership training retreat for the site coordinators, and meets with them on a bi-weekly basis to review the performance of the ITS groups.
•Coordinates ITS Day of Service during Fall Orientation for all incoming students.
•Supervises the ITS summer intern, and with the intern secures sites for ITS Day, and arranges for transportation and supplies; supervises two part-time work-study students during the academic year.
•Plans the ITS Community Service Fair in September and January, securing the participation of community partners, and advertising fair to students.
•Coordinates the New York City Service Trip during the Christmas break. Advertises the trip and decides on student leaders and attendance, secures a site for service and arranges for housing; accompanies and supervises the students during the trip.
•Serves as a resource to the College community for service opportunities and service-related reflection as well as fund-raising efforts for on and off-campus service organizations.
•Collaborates with the Office of Community-Based Learning in coordinating service-learning opportunities and sites for the wider College community.
Organizational and Operational Responsibilities
•Works with the Campus Ministry Administrative Assistant in coordinating the use and maintenance of the Campus Ministry vans.
•Represents the Mission Division on campus committees as assigned. Could serve on the First Year Experience Committee, Orientation Committee, Community Partner Engagement Committee, among others.
•Gathers data on where Stonehill students are serving in the community, calculating total hours of service performed by students each academic year using data from all constituencies on campus doing service. Hosts annual Celebration of Service Breakfast to honor all of Stonehill’s community partners with campus colleagues.
•Cultivates prospective community partners and the identification of community needs, maintaining files and updating information on community partners.
•Promotes Stonehill’s civic engagement opportunities both locally and nationally for recognition. In conjunction with the Director of Community Based Learning, submits President’s Honor Roll for Community Service Application, Massachusetts Campus Compact Member Survey and works in collaboration with campus constituencies on the Carnegie Classification Application.
•Works closely with the Office of Media Relations to highlight service outcomes of the College as well as students’ service stories.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and/or Experience:
Master’s degree (M. A.) in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Ministry, or related field or equivalent. Knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office suite. Candidate should possess experience in higher education, developing and sustaining relationships with social service agencies. Ongoing understanding of student leadership development, justice education and various facets of Campus Ministry is preferred.
Other Qualification:
Must be available to travel with student group during winter break trip to New York City, attend some retreats and most Sunday liturgies.
