Responsibilities:
This Assistant Chaplain’s primary focus is student outreach including communication and evangelization to motivate and assist undergraduate and graduate students to deepen their faith as well as to expand the involvement of students in ministry now and develop their capacity for leadership within the Church after graduation. This is a full –time position.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the mission of Saint Thomas More Chapel and Center
- Developing new programs aimed at increasing our impact within the Yale Catholic community
- Coordinating communication strategies
- Participating in the implementation of liturgical and programmatic initiatives including:
- Serving on leadership team and committees, staff and other meetings
- Other duties as assigned by the Chaplain

Education and Experience
- Master's degree in Theology or related field with 3-4 years experience in campus ministry
- Ability to work with university students as a positive mentor and role model
- Solid understanding of faith development and the spiritual needs of university students
- Demonstrated leadership skills including program development, networking, and communication
- Proficiency in social media and other effective ways to communicate with university students
Knowledge and Skills
This Assistant Chaplain must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
This Assistant Chaplain must:
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
- Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Be willing and able to work a non-standard workweek to include weekend and evening hours.
