GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The full-time Campus Ministry Associate position includes pastoral ministry to university students, planning & facilitating retreats and retreat teams, and faith programming. This position coordinates opportunities for exploration of "dating, faith and virtue", vocations discernment, and "evangelization of the culture". It also includes developing and establishing intentional living environments that cultivate faith-sharing, fellowship and service. The position is a twelve-month position that requires evening and weekend hours.

MAJOR TASKS:

1. Coordinating and facilitating faith events, youth retreats and conferences.

  • Major events: Back-from-the-Dead Cemetery Walk, Vigil for Life, high school retreats, confirmation retreats, Summer Conference
  • Student leadership team recruitment and formation, networking, promotion, programming, bookkeeping/budgeting, contact with parishes and dioceses, contact with University departments/Grotto.

2. Coordinating and leading opportunities for vocation discernment and formation

  • Creating and marketing programs with student leaders on dating and relationships and couples ministry (in support of vocation of marriage)
  • Coordinate opportunities for discernment of vocation and God's will for a person's life. Includes planning "Silent Retreat", speakers, topics, dinners, Nun Runs, etc... Should have experience in vocational discernment and teaching others to pray and discern God's will.

3. Creates and develops student leadership in evangelization of the culture.

  • Works with students to creatively highlight faith to the Mount community during feast days such as St. Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Juan Diego Feast, St. Nicholas, St. Therese roses (in October), etc...

4. Create and work with students to establish opportunities for intentional communities within the residence halls that include faith-sharing, weekly fellowship and service.

MINOR TASKS:

  • Lead Peer Ministry - helping student develop faith programming with R.A.'s for the residence halls.
  • Ensure all student leaders working with high school students are in STAND compliance.
  • Possible supervision of Campus Ministry intern
  • Assisting with Campus Ministry events
  • Serve as contact for religious communities interested in connecting with the Mount
  • Maintain vocation/discernment related materials
  • Occasional presence with Admissions, i.e., Campus Ministry presentation, tables at larger perspective student days, etc.
  • Ministry of presence to students
  • Other Duties as assigned.

POSITION AUTHORITY:

Position reports to the Director of Campus Ministry and Campus Chaplain and works collaboratively with the Campus Ministry staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

M.A. in Theology is preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in college age or young adult ministry. Experience in overseeing retreats and/or faith conferences for 100+ youth/young adults is preferred. Candidate must have exceptional people and pastoral skills, strong organizational ability, and be able to collaborate well with others. Candidate should be a Catholic in good standing with a mature and joyful faith.
