CAMPUS MINISTER

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
The Campus Minister is appointed by the Principal with the approval of the President and serves under the direct supervision of the Principal. The Campus Minister serves as a member of the Administrative Team (ATM) and shares responsibility for the total program of youth ministry and formation. The Campus Minister is responsible for coordinating the school's efforts to respond to the pastoral needs of students, faculty, and staff. This occurs principally through liturgy, the sacraments and service.

EXPECTATIONS:
• 7:30 am to 3:15 pm - 10 months per year, other hours as needed to fulfill accountabilities
• 8:00 am to 2:00 pm - during summer months; other hours as needed to fulfill accountabilities
• The Campus Minister typically will teach two courses per day during the regular school year

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Specific accountabilities shall include, but not be limited to:
• Knowledge of the mission and philosophy of Notre Dame College Prep and support in incorporating and communicating them.
• Submit annually a budget for the Office of Campus Ministry.
• Plan and coordinate liturgical experiences for the community.
• Prepare morning prayer for the public address.
• Supervise the Christian Service Program Director.
• Identify and respond to the needs of students who have not received the Sacraments of Initiation and/or Reconciliation.
• Work with the Parents' Association in planning and coordinating family liturgical opportunities.
• Provide opportunities for students to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Anointing of the Sick.
• Coordinate retreat opportunities for the Notre Dame community, including faculty.
• Plan and act as chaperone for occasional community service projects.
• Provide opportunities for service, evaluating the efficacy of the service, and keeping records of student participation.
• Work closely with students and moderators to coordinate service projects around the school and local community.
• Explore ways of broadening student and faculty participation in community service.
• Provide leadership training for students in tandem with the Director of Student Activities.
• Provide a high-profile ministerial presence at Notre Dame so as to engage the community in an understanding of campus ministry goals and a participation in its progress.
• Be available to students to help foster community and student involvement.
• Recruit and prepare liturgical ministers (greeters/ministers of hospitality, lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Eucharist, etc) for service to the community.
• Oversee the "ministry of presence" within the community during times of tragedy, illness, or death.
• Coordinate with the Religious Studies Department Chairperson to ensure the smooth interaction of Campus Ministry and Religious Studies activities, events, and curricula.
• Work cooperatively with the Student Activities Office.
• Teach up to two courses in the Religious Studies Department.
• Continue professional development.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree, excellent communication skills, an energetic and outgoing personality, strong administrative/organizational skills and the ability to work on a ministry team are essential

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Master's degree in theology, divinity, or ministry, experience in coordinating retreats, experience in a youth ministry setting, and familiarity with the Google Docs. 2+ years of Catholic school experience is preferred.
