Coordinator of Confirmation
St. Ignatius of Loyola

St. Ignatius of Loyola, a vibrant, diverse parish in the greater Boston area, is seeking a candidate to fill the role of coordinator of our confirmation program. This part time position would be responsible for the catechetical, service, and pastoral needs of our dynamic and committed group of high school parishioners. In keeping with our parish mission to serve as a welcoming community with a spirit of sharing in the joy of the Gospel, a successful candidate will demonstrate a desire to companion high school parishioners to come to know, love and serve God and one another.

 

The person filling this post would be required to:

§  Teach Confirmation II class

§  Organize, prepare, and run Kairos-style weekend retreats twice per year

§  Organize and participate in high school service projects

§  Organize and chaperone service trips for high school students

§  Develop opportunities for interaction and catechesis for students who have been confirmed (i.e. Youth Mass, service trips)

§  Collaborate with Faith Formation Team and Pastoral Staff

 

A successful candidate will:

§  Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher

§  Be familiar with running Kairos-style retreats

§  Have at least one year’s experience working with adolescents within a parish or youth ministry setting

§  Have strong retreat leadership, communication and pastoral skills to facilitate teen groups and interact with adults, parents, and the larger faith community

§  Demonstrate experience with and an understanding of the developmental needs and challenges of high school adolescents

§  Be enlivened by working within a collaborative environment

§  Have a working knowledge of Ignatian spirituality

§  Fluent and/or conversational in Spanish a plus
