Director of Hispanic MinistriesThe Director, Hispanic Ministries has responsibility and authority for the day-to-day operation of the Office of Hispanic Ministries. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that the Archbishop and Vicar Bishops are well informed on the issues, concerns, and trends that affect the Hispanic community and to take action as needed on those issues, concerns or trends. that person is also a voice for the Hispanic community to diocesan, and parish structures. The position has full program responsibilities and decision-making authority but always with and in the spirit of pastoral de Conjunto (collaborative, interdependent, co-responsible ministry with lay people and pastoral agents). The Director reports to the Vicar of the Seton Vicariate.

A Sample Of The Other Duties Includes

  • Assist the Archbishop and Vicar for Hispanic Ministry with visioning, integration and administration of the ministerial needs of the Hispanic community. To administer the Office of Hispanic Ministry, including: gathering government and other demographic data, analyzing data, discernment and theological reflection, planning and implementation, budgeting and staffing.
  • Promotes and implements the 2002 Encuentro and Mission: A Renewed Pastoral Framework for Hispanic Ministry from the USCCB, the Archdiocesan pastoral plan and other diocesan strategies and pastoral plans.
  • Consults and provides resourcing services to Hispanic leadership, parish pastoral leadership, and archdiocesan leadership on the needs of the Hispanic community.
  • Works collaboratively with pastors, pastoral agents (priests, religious, lay ecclesial ministers in Hispanic ministry).
  • Provides leadership and planning to the Archdiocesan Hispanic Ministry Council. Ensures that the council is active and has representation of the Hispanic archdiocesan community.
  • Responsible to support other archdiocesan departments, pastors and pastoral staffs about Hispanic involvement regarding culture and needs and participation in the decision-making processes.
  • Acts as archdiocesan liaison for lay formation (Cursillo, Charismatic Renewal, Escuela San Andrs, etc.) within a multicultural context.
  • Participates in the meetings of the Archdiocesan Immigration Coalition.
  • Active membership in regional and national Hispanic Catholic organizations

To Be Considered Best Qualified, Candidates Must Meet The Following

  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing able to fully participate in all aspects of church life
  • Masters Degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies or closely related field.
  • Five or more years experience at the diocesan level
  • Must be bilingual/bi-literate in Spanish and English
  • Must understand Hispanic cultural diversity other cultural diversity across the Archdiocese
  • Fostering opportunities for leadership development in concert with archdiocesan programs
  • Accompanies Vicar on various Pastoral Visits and Regional Meetings
  • Previous parish experience actively working with the Hispanic community
