Parish Youth Ministry:

The parish youth ministry program integrates adolescent catechesis into a comprehensive ministry to, with, by and for young people.  The youth ministry program includes sacramental preparation, service opportunities, social activities, as well as opportunities for spiritual enrichment. The seaside location of the parish is conducive to fostering a deep spirituality.

 The Coordinator of Youth Ministry (CYM) provides the vision, leadership and coordination of all aspects of the youth ministry program for the young people in grades 9 – 12. This is a part-time (15 hrs. per wk./780 hrs. per yr.) position. This would include weekends and occasional weekday evenings. Salary is commensurate with level of experience.

 Program Responsibilities:

  • Implement the innovative, new confirmation program utilizing a variety of formats and settings
  • Provide appropriate training and resources for volunteer adult leaders in the Confirmation program
  • Develop a leadership team of high school youth to help direct and plan youth ministry programs
  • Coordinate summer service week including location, fundraising, and travel plans
  • Plan quarterly youth activities
  • Coordinate the recruitment and training of young adults to support the high school youth on service trips and other youth ministry activities
  • Provide opportunities for parent/guardian involvement with youth ministry
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians
  • Foster involvement of youth in the liturgical life of the parish
  • Engage in professional development opportunities through workshops, webinars, and connections with the diocesan Office of New Evangelization

Parish Responsibilities:

Attend and actively participate in parish staff meetings

Seek staff input and coordination with parish calendar when planning youth ministry activities

Be a visible presence when possible at parish activities

Meet regularly with the pastor

 

 Qualifications:

Active member of a Catholic parish faith community

Bachelor’s degree in Theology and/or Education

Master’s Degree preferred

2-5 Years of post-graduate Youth Ministry experience

High level of attention to detail

Excellent organizational skills
