The Boston College School of Theology and Ministry is accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, and the following degree programs are approved:

M.Div., M.A. in Theology and Ministry, M.A. in Pastoral Ministry, M.T.S., Th.M.

Additionally, Boston College is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC) and has been accredited by NEASC since 1935. Please see the Office of Institutional Research.

Persons inquiring about the accreditation for other civil degrees offered by the School of Theology and Ministry (e.g., M.Ed., C.A.E.S., Ph.D.) should consult the websites of the Boston College schools that grant the degrees.

The S.T.B., S.T.L., and S.T.D. degrees are offered by our ecclesiastical faculty and are approved by the Holy See.

Master of Divinity
Of the 8 MDiv graduates in 2010-2011:
•  6 finished the degree in 3 years

Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry
NOTE: Full-time can be either 2 academic years or 5 summers.
Of the 25 MA graduates in 2010-2011:
•  11 finished the degree in 2 years
•  8 finished the degree in 3 years
•  2 finished the degree in 4 years
•  2 finished the degree in 5 years
•  2 finished the degree in over six years

Master of Theological Studies
Of the 27 MTS graduates in 2010-2011:
•  23 finished the degree in 2 years
•  2 finished the degree in 3 years
•  2 finished the degree in 4 years

Master of Theology
Of the 6 ThM graduates in 2010-2011
•  5 finished the degree in 1 year
•  1 finished the degree in 2 years
