school of theology and ministry
The STM follows the Boston College Academic Integrity Policy. Students are expected to be familiar with this policy and are responsible for following it in their academic conduct while studying here at Boston College STM.
Faculty and students with questions regarding academic integrity are encouraged to contact Dr. Jennifer Bader, associate dean for academic affairs, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-552-4478.
STM Academic Integrity Procedures
Academic integrity procedures can be found here.
This tutorial introduces students to the academic culture here at STM, including faculty expectations regarding assignments, resources for research, instructions on how to cite properly, and, most importantly, the place and value of academic integrity here at STM.
All new STM students are required to take the online academic integrity tutorial in their first semester of study. Students will have access to the tutorial at cms.bc.edu after the add/drop period ends and will be sent an email from the associate dean for academic affairs regarding the dates between which the tutorial needs to be completed. Students not completing the tutorial by the deadline will not be able to register for courses for the following semester until it is completed.
SafeAssign for Students
SafeAssign allows students to upload their papers before handing them in to their professors in order to check for unwittingly uncited text. SafeAssign can be accessed by current STM students after the add/drop period ends each semester by going to cms.bc.edu, logging in, and clicking on SafeAssign. For more information on how to use SafeAssign, see the instructional video below and/or the written instructions.
Direct Assign allows faculty members who have a Blackboard site for their course to easily and efficiently check for internet-based plagiarism in those papers in which plagiarism is suspected. For more information on how to use DirectAssign, see the instructional video link below and/or the written instructions.
Direct Assign generates score reports that need careful interpretation. Additional information regarding this interpretation can be found in this instructional video link below and/or these written instructions.
