Postpartum depression including mother-child interaction; family mental health research, including children's teasing and bullying experiences, and parenting and couples' interaction and negotiation processes; currently Principal Investigator of CARE Intervention for Depressed Mothers & Their Infants (5R01 NR 008033), and participating as a co-investigator on the Child-Adolescent Teasing Scale (CATS) project

BIOGRAPHY
Spearheading award-winning studies about postpartum depression and its effects on mother-infant interactions is a mission for Dr. June Andrews Horowitz as a clinical researcher. Dr. Horowitz is the CARE Project’s Principal Investigator, a Professor at Boston College, and a Senior Scientist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Center for Excellence in Nursing, Partner’s Heath Care.  As featured in Who’s Who(Cambridge, 2007-2008), and Who’s Who in American Nursing, Dr. Horowitz is the recipient of numerous accolades for her scholarship including The Best of The Journal of Nursing Scholarship, the Boston College Senior Research Award, and the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses Research Award. Dr. Horowitz’s expertise is exemplified through more than 220 presentations, textbooks and chapters, and articles about postpartum depression’s effects on mother-child interactions, children's teasing and bullying experiences, as well as parenting and couples' negotiations.  She is a reviewer for leading scholarly publications including, Journal of Perinatal Education, International Nursing Perspectives, Archives of Women’s Mental Health, and Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica.  In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, she is also Co-Chair of the American Academy of Nursing’s Mental Health and Substance Abuse Expert Panel, a long-term expert on Sigma Theta Tau’s Alpha Chi chapter’s Research Review Committee, and an invited reviewer for grant applications for the National Institutes of Health.  Previously, she served as Chairperson of Boston’s College’s Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Department and was an assistant professor at Rutgers State University of New Jersey.  Dr. Horowitz received her B.S. in nursing at Boston College, her M.S. in psychiatric-mental health nursing at Rutgers State University of New Jersey, and her Ph.D. in nursing research and theory development at New York University.
