The 2012 National Student Nurses Association

The 2012 National Student Nurses Association Conference celebrated the 60th anniversary of the organization. Throughout the conference there were multiple networking opportunities for various jobs and schools in the exhibition hall, as well as many different focus sessions for both students and professors to expand their knowledge base in nursing.

A highlight was definitely the pharmacology focus session, which taught very innovative mnemonic devices to help students learn and memorize different drugs and their side effects. Another interesting focus session discussed evidenced-based care for lactation and breastfeeding for the most vulnerable infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. Examples of other sessions included peri-operative nursing, how to ace nursing exams, role of nurses in global community, and many more.

This opportunity was a very educational, informative, and fun experience for the students. They look forward to applying what they learned at the conference in their current and future nursing practice.
