Choosing Wisely, a movement begun in 2012, urges health care providers and patients to think and talk about tests and procedures that may be unnecessary and may cause harm. This session will review this overuse as a deterrent to high quality health care. The Choosing Wisely evidence-based recommendations most salient to primary care will be used as exemplars, with the whys and hows of educating and empowering consumers to make more informed health care decisions.
