TOUGH TO TREAT: ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANT INFECTION IN THE ACUTE CARE SETTING

Antibiotic resistance has become an increasingly common challenge and is most worrisome when treating the sickest patients. In the acute care setting, timely identification of the resistant organism and choosing the proper antibiotic is crucial. In this session, treatment strategies for infections such as c. difficile, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, methcillin-resistant staph aureus and other challenging infectious agents will be discussed.
