Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess is an internationally recognized pioneer in the assessment and treatment of victims of trauma and abuse. A trailblazer in nursing, Dr. Burgess's courtroom testimony is described as "groundbreaking."

A recipient of numerous honors and awards, Dr. Burgess has worked with FBI Academy special agents to study serial offenders and the links between child abuse, juvenile delinquency, and subsequent perpetration. Her work with Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing colleague Carol Hartman has led to the study of very young victims and the impact of trauma on their growth and development, their families, and their communities. Her work continues in the study of cyber stalking, Internet sex crimes, and elder abuse in nursing homes. She will be teaching courses in Victimology, Forensic Science and Forensic Mental Health. Guest lectures include forensic experts, sexual assault examiners, forensic photographers and crime scene investigators.

Cancellation Policy

Requests to transfer payments to another course, and cancellations, are only accepted in writing (or by e-mail to sonce@bc.edu) four weeks prior to the start of the course.

Refund Policy

A refund (less $50 administrative costs) is provided only if a cancellation is requested in writing (or by e-mail to sonce@bc.edu) four weeks prior to the start of the course. No refunds will be made for cancellations requested after that date or for no-shows.
