As a result of the recent movement to speed drug and medical device development, the need for scientifically trained professionals to coordinate research studies has increased. The U.S. Department of Labor reports that the demand for qualified CRA’s and CRC’s is expected to double over the next ten years. Professionals trained for these demanding careers are currently in short supply. Traditionally preparation for these roles were through on-the-job training with physicians and scientists conducting pharmaceutical research. The Boston Continuing Program Office now has a formal program for training for these positions.
