Case Studies in Forensics

The course uses a case study format to analyze forensic cases in the criminal, civil, juvenile, and family court system. We will examine the application of forensics to crime scene investigation, mental health practice, emergency care situations, crime lab work, courtroom testimony, and other areas identified by the students. Emphasis is on medical record review in litigation. Content for the course will derive from legal cases and situations whereby we will examine individual, family, and community responses to the uncertainty of trauma, victimization, and criminal behavior in a multicultural society. Ethical concepts will be applied to issues of litigation.
