Katherine Gregory receives Nurse of the Year Award

In celebration of excellence in nursing throughout Massachusetts, the March of Dimes gave out Nurse of the Year Awards to deserving nurses in ten categories. Katherine Gregory, Assistant Professor, William F. Connell School of Nursing, Boston College, was honored in the category of Nurse Researcher.

The Nurse of the Year selection committee reviewed hundreds of applications across 10 categories ranging from Nurse Researcher to NICU and Womens Health disciplines.  More than 40 finalists emerged, all representing the March of Dimes vision for a healthier, stronger generation of babies and families.

“Nurses play an incredibly critical role in our community.  They are truly the unsung medical heroes of the healthcare field and we join the world in saluting them,” says Ed Doherty, March of Dimes Massachusetts Chapter, State Director.

Heidi Fantasia, Nursing Professor, University of Massachusetts in Lowell, received the Nurse of the Year award in the category of Women's Health. Prior to teaching at UMass, Fantasia was a Post Doctoral Fellow and visiting scholar at Boston College.
