DeMarco named Clinical Nurse Specialist Researcher of the Year
On March 9, Associate Professor Rosanna DeMarco will receive the 2012 CNS Researcher of the Year Award from the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) in Chicago, Illinois.
The purpose of the award is to nationally recognize an NACNS member for outstanding professional achievement as a clinical nurse specialist who has conducted original nursing research that has significantly enhanced the science of autonomous nursing practice, patient and family outcomes, and/or health care systems. The award acknowledges a nurse for an accomplished program of research that has significantly contributed to advancing the nursing profession.
DeMarco was chosen for this honor for her deep commitment to her research that is demonstrated through her community-based approach as a CNS to identify and test culturally relevant and gender sensitive interventions. DeMarco’s sustained commitment to local, national and global prevention initiatives which have influenced nursing’s contribution to evidence-based practice and public health policy for marginalized women added to her winning this prestigious award.
