Elizabeth Johnson '10 was awarded the Carol A. Ghiloni Oncology Nursing Fellowship from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Johnson will spend 10 weeks this summer working with a nurse preceptor in the oncology units of MGH. At the end of the summer, she will present a research project to the Carol A. Ghiloni selection board about a topic pertinent to oncology and relating to her summer work.

Through this opportunity, Johnson will gain clinical and observational experience in inpatient and outpatient oncology, including medical/surgical oncology, radiation oncology, the outpatient infusion unit, and the transfusion service. The fellowship is a unique chance for a baccalaureate nursing student to observe the care of patients with cancer across the continuum, and to get a firsthand look at the daily work of an oncology nurse.
