Clare Butt, second year doctoral student at the Connell School of Nursing, has been selected as one of the recipients of an Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Foundation Scholarship for the ONS 10th National Conference on Cancer Nursing Research.

Clare is taking advantage of this opportunity to hear about the latest research in cancer nursing, to network with fellow nursing researchers, and to learn more about hope and quality of life. Under the guidance of her advisor, Dr. Patricia Tabloski, Clare plans to study hope in cancer survivors for her dissertation, and to publish the results of this research at a future Oncology Nursing Research Conference. As a doctoral fellow with the Center for Nursing Research, Clare is currently working on the Center's website under the direction of Dr. Barbara Wolfe, associate dean for research.

The conference is dedicated to oncology nursing research, providing a forum for the dissemination of research findings, and stimulating translation of research into practice. Dr. Carol Ferrans, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor and associate dean for research, College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will act as Clare's conference mentor.

The conference will be held February 12-14 in Orlando, Florida.
