Vallent and Barone selected to attend Geriatric Nursing Education Consortium

Clinical Instructor Heather Vallent and Assistant Clinical Professor Stacey Barone have been chosen to attend GNEC, the Geriatric Nursing Education Consortium.

Clinical Instructor Heather Vallent and Assistant Clinical Professor Stacey Barone have been chosen to attend GNEC, the Geriatric Nursing Education Consortium. GNEC is an innovative, national initiative to enhance geriatric content in senior-level undergraduate nursing courses. Administered by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the consortium educates faculty from nursing schools across the country in the fundamentals of geriatric nursing and the use of geriatric curriculum resources.

Using a train-the-trainer approach, GNEC seeks to support and empower baccalaureate nursing faculty as they champion geriatric education. With the training they receive, Vallent and Barone will be prepared to serve as leaders by sharing their expertise with colleagues as they work to incorporate more geriatric content in the curriculum.

The consortium will be held in Philadelphia on June 24-26, 2009.
