Each year, the College of Nursing recognizes accomplishments and current endeavors, and explores future directions for the profession by honoring those who have made significant contributions to nursing and health care. Each of the Celebration of Nursing Awards has been endowed by a generous benefactor, for which each award is named.

The Rose and George Doval Education Award is an award for excellence in nursing education recognizing a nurse educator who:

• Has significantly influenced nursing education by creating innovative and humanistic approaches to teaching
• Has influenced the present and future practice of nursing through education
• Is recognized by students and alumni for excellence and compassion as a teacher
• Instills in students a passion for the discipline of nursing and a desire to continue learning
  

This year's Celebration of Nursing Excellence will take place on November 1, 2007.
