The Alumni Award

Established by the alumni to honor a nursing student for general excellence in the four years of study in the baccalaureate nursing program.

The Marie S. Andrews Clinical Performance Award

Established by the faculty to honor the student who has demonstrated, through clinical performance, sensitivity to the needs of patients, respect for dignity and "wholeness" of the patient, and outstanding ability to deliver quality nursing care.

The Cathy Jean Malek Award

Established by the faculty to honor the student whose presence conveys the essence of a caring and loving spirit.

The Reverend Edward J. Gorman S.J. Leadership Award

Given to the student, who in the judgment of classmates, best exemplifies leadership and who has contributed to the William F. Connell School of Nursing through dedication, service, and sincerity.

The Jean A. O'neil Achievement Award

Established by the faculty to honor the graduating senior who maximized potential through qualities of conscientiousness, persistence, and giving beyond expectations.

The Susan E. Donelan Award

Established by the faculty to honor the undergraduate student who through grace, humor, interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to details, and dedication distinguished him- or herself among classmates.

The Graduate Student Association Academic Achievement Award

The GSA Academic Achievement Award is given to the student who shows outstanding academic excellence, intellectual rigor and scholarship in his or her graduate studies and/or research.

The Graduate Student Association Contribution to the Community Award

The GSA Contribution to Community Award is given to the student who demonstrates exceptional commitment to either the graduate student, School or Boston College community.

The Graduate Student Association William F. Connell School of Nursing Award

The GSA School Award is determined by the Deans based on the mission of the William F. Connell School of Nursing, which is to prepare professional nurses whose practice reflects a humanistic ethic and is scientifically based, technically competent, and highly compassionate.

Patricia Ibert Award

This award was established in 1992 to honor a graduate nursing student who emulates Patricia Ibert?s qualities. Patricia Ibert was a student in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Masters program.  She passed away in 1991 after a battle with cancer.  Despite the fact that Pat was a student for only a relatively short period of time, she made a positive impact.  It is in celebration of Pat?s positive impact at Boston College, and the manner in which she launched herself into the academic life of this institution that the Patricia A. Ibert Scholar?s Award was established.

Dorothy A. Jones Award

The Dorothy A. Jones Award was instituted in 1998, to recognize the 11th anniversary of the Graduate Nurses? Association and the efforts of Dr. Jones to establish this association at Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing.  The award is given to honor a graduate student who represents the attributes used to describe the efforts of Dr. Dorothy Jones. Dr. Jones has been a mentor, a role model and advisor to the GNA and in this capacity has had the ability to help shape student leadership and foster the Jesuit mission of service to others.

PhD Dissertation Award

Established by the University and awarded by the faculty in recognition of the outstanding doctoral dissertation in the CSON.  The doctoral dissertation is an independent scholarly work that contributes to the development of nursing knowledge and contributes to the discipline of nursing as a science and an art.

Gershon Salter Long-term Care Award

The Gershon Salter Longterm Care Award is presented to an advanced practice nursing student who exemplifies excellence in gerontological nursing.  This award acknowledges this graduate's desire and a commitment to the establishment of a career in gerontological nursing with the goal of improving the quality of care provided to older persons and their families.

Magaw-Hodgins Nurse Anesthesia Award

Established by the faculty of the School of Nursing to honor a graduating Nurse Anesthesia student who best combines the essence of nursing with academcic excellence in nurse anesthesia practice.
