KEYS to Inlclusive Leadership in Nursing (KILN)
The "Keys to Inclusive Leadership in Nursing" (KILN) program at Boston College's William F. Connell School of Nursing prepares nursing students from disadvantaged backgrounds (including racial and ethnic minorities underrepresented among registered nurses) to enter the public health nursing workforce as leaders with the inherent capacity to make a difference in local communities. KILN Highlights: Through the KILN program I hope to build a network of support composed by the nursing faculty and my fellow nursing peers. KILN Highlights: I appreciated that Linda Burnes Bolton presented a framework for a nurse's career that can be helpful when choosing a nursing specialty. She advocated that novice nurses begin their careers in acute care, transition to community health, where the nurse gains an understanding of the larger social structures that affect a community, and then transition into public health and policy-making.
