News and Upcoming Deadlines

Program of Study Deadlines:

In the fall semester, all second year doctoral students (except C&I) will need to submit their Program of Study prior to registration for spring semester. Doctoral Program of Study forms need to be signed by the student, faculty advisor, and department chair. Final approved forms should be submitted to the department office.

All Master's and CAES students who began their program in Spring 2013 or Summer 2013 (except Counseling) will need to submit their Program of Study prior to registration for spring semester.  Master's and CAES Program of Study forms need to be signed by the student, faculty advisor, and Associate Dean. Final approved forms should be submitted to the Graduate Office (Campion 135).

The deadline for submitting the Program of Study form for fall semester is Friday, November 8. If the form is not submitted by the deadline, a registration hold will be placed on your account and you will not be able to register for spring semester.

The deadline for submitting the Program of Study form for spring semester is Monday, March 31.  If the form is not submitted by the deadline, a registration hold will be placed on your account and you will not be able to register for summer or fall semesters.

Master's/CAES Comprehensive Exam Information

Master's/CAES Spring 2014 Comprehensive Exams:

Students must register for ED/PY888 and submit the new online registration form in order to be completely registered to take their comprehensive exam requirement.

COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY

The Counseling Psychology Comprehensive Exam (Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling) is only offered in the spring semester. The exam will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014.  The deadline to submit the Comprehensive Exam Request form is Friday, December 13, 2013. The location and time of the exam are still being determined.

HIGHER EDUCATION

The format is a take-home exam and will be distributed on Friday, March 21, 2014.  Exams due back no later than 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014. The deadline to submit the Comprehensive Exam Request form is Friday, February 28, 2014.  There will be a Higher Education Comprehensive Exam Information Session held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in Campion 139 from 6:30-7:00pm.

CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

The format is a take-home exam and will be distributed on Monday, March 10, 2014.  Exams are due back no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014. The deadline to submit the Comprehensive Exam Request form is Friday, February 28, 2014.

APPLIED DEVELOPMENTAL AND EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

Comprehensive Exam Thesis Critical Literature Review Proposal and Cover sheet is due to readers February 1, 2014.  Submit completed paper to readers by March 15, 2014. Final Revisions (if requested) due back to readers by April 25, 2014.  The deadline to submit the Comprehensive Exam Request form is Friday, February 28, 2014.

EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH, MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION

The format is a multiple choice and oral exam. The deadline to submit the Comprehensive Exam Request form is Friday, February 28, 2014. Once the form has been submitted, contact Jillian Gomolka in the ERME Department to schedule your exam.

EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP

For students in the licensure program, the exam consists of an oral presentation and defense of the student's practicum portfolio and leadership platform.  For students in the non-lecensure program, the format of the exam is a written response to a series of prompts.  Exam materials will be due toward the end of the semester.  All exams will be completed by April 16, 2014.The deadline to submit the Comprehensive Exam Request is Friday, February 28, 2014.

ALL TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS

The Comprehensive Exam requirement will be satisfied by the successful completion of ED431/ED432, Inquiry Seminar. The deadline to submit the Comprehensive Exam Request form is Friday, February 28, 2014.
