Meet the Staff

Speshal Walker

Speshal Walker is a fifth-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Massachusetts-Boston, who joined the ISPRC in the summer of 2012.  Her research interests are in understanding Black women’s experiences of trauma and body image satisfaction.  She is specifically interested in identifying culturally relevant resources for recovery and resilience for this population.  Speshal received her BA in Psychology and Women Studies from the University of Connecticut, and is currently a Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (MHSAS) fellow of the American Psychological Association’s Minority Fellowship Program.  She is also a student member of the Association of Black Psychologists and a student of affiliate of the American Psychological Association.

Outside of school, Speshal enjoys music, traveling, being physically active, and spending time with loved ones.
