Meet the Staff

Natasha Torkelson

Natasha Torkelson is a Diversity Fellow and a second-year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Boston College. She earned her MA in Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University as part of the Marriage and Family Therapist Training program. She also earned her BA in Psychology at the University of Southern California. She is a graduate student affiliate of APA, Division 17 (Counseling Psychology) and Division 45 (Psychological Study of Ethnic and Minority Issues). 

Natasha joined ISPRC in the fall of 2010. Her research interests focus on biracial and multiracial identity development, multicultural counseling and training and preventative interventions for at-risk minority youth and communities, particularly examining and fostering resiliency in underserved populations.

Natasha’s past work experiences have included work with seriously emotionally disturbed youth in residential and community settings, youth in the child welfare system of the San Francisco Bay Area, adolescents at a continuation high school and afterschool program for underrepresented minorities in higher education and children in elementary schools in San Jose and Los Angeles, California.

In her spare time, she likes to watch tv, spent time with family, friends and her dog, read books, cook and try new food, travel and dance.
