Requirements
Candidates must have received, or expect to receive, a bachelor's degree by the summer following the date of application to the Teacher Corps.
Candidates must have a major or minor in elementary, early childhood, or secondary education; a supervised student teaching experience or one year of supervised teaching experience; and initial teaching certification.
Candidates must have a desire to live in a community residence with other teachers and they must commit to two years of service in the Catholic schools.
Instructions
Please note that the information in the application may be shared in full or in part with school officials. All application materials should be received by January 1, 2013 for consideration to begin the program in June 2013.
Please note that your reference letter from your supervising teacher may be submitted by February 1, if you are started your full-time practicim in the spring.
The UCTC application includes:
– All required components of the Lynch School graduate application.
NOTE: The Lynch School application fee is waived for UCTC applicants
Please be aware that Lynch School graduate application includes personal statement (in which UCTC applicant should indicate interest in UCTC), 2 academic letters of recommendation, resume, transcript(s), and standardized test scores (GRE or M.A.T.)
– UCTC Application and accompanying recommendations (must be submitted together with the exception of the supervising teacher recommendation if you are completing your full-practicum in the spring.)
Each letter of recommendation must be enclosed in a sealed envelope with the writer's signature across the seal.

Background Check
The Archdiocese of Boston requires a criminal background check on all candidates who are accepted into the Urban Catholic Teacher Corps program. UCTC may not be able to accept candidates with a criminal record history. Misrepresentation or falsifications of any part of the application or its supporting materials are grounds for refusal of admission or dismissal from the program.
