Urban Catholic Teacher Corps
Community living is a required component of participating in UCTC. Corps members live, learn, and actively support each other through out the two year commitment.
Since our first Cohort began in 1997, all UCTC members have lived in our UCTC Community House (affectionately, "The Convent"). The facility is a former convent in Dorchester, MA. The house has shared kitchen, laundry, dinning and living rooms. Additionally, the house also offers both a beautiful Chapel and library. Each community member occupies a single room and shares large community restrooms. Bedrooms are furnished; each room has a bed, shelves, small table, a closet, and a sink. Limited additional storage space is available for bicycles and other personal seasonal items in the basement of the house.
Looking to the future of UCTC, as our program grows over the next several years we do hope to one day additionally have a small community house north of Boston that would allow UCTC members to teach in schools North of the Charles River.
