Frequently Asked Questions

institute for administrators in catholic higher education

Q. What is the dress code for the Institute?

Business attire is recommended for the Monday evening opening dinner and keynote address.  Business casual attire is suggested for the daily symposium.  You may want to bring a sweater, as it can get cold in the air-conditioned meeting rooms.  A light jacket is also recommended for our Thursday evening dinner in the North End.

Q.  Is Stayer Hall (at 110 St. Thomas More) Summer Housing Residence Hall a Dorm?

Yes, Stayer Hall is an undergraduate, apartment-style residence hall that is utilized as the Summer Housing/Welcome Center for the Institute.  As such, though the accommodations and venue are generous, they are not identical to that of a hotel.

Q.  What if something is missing from my room accommodations?

If something is missing from your room accommodations in Stayer Hall (please note what is provided and what is not provided in the 'Preparing for the Institute - What is Provided' section), please contact the Welcome Center Staff on the first floor of the residence hall at 617.655.5555

Any questions that arise throughout the Institute regarding your room, a lost room card, room accommodations, transportation information, Internet access, or other needs, can be addressed to the Welcome Center Staff at Stayer Hall.

Q.  What are the hours of the Boston College Bookstore?

The Boston College Bookstore is located in McElroy Hall (see 'Resources-BC Campus Map'). Bookstore hours are 9:00am-6:30pm (Monday through Thursday) and 9:00am-5:00pm (Friday).  The bookstore also has a satellite store located on the ground floor of Maloney Hall (21 Campanella Way).  This store is closer to the residence hall but has a limited selection. It is open 9:00am-5:00pm (Monday through Friday).

Q.  How much does it cost to ride the 'T' (Boston's Subway System)? What are its hours?

The cost of riding the 'T' is $2.50 each way and you can pay with exact change/bills once you get on the train. Boston College is one of the stops on the T.  The station is conveniently located on Commonwealth Ave (across from Stayer Hall and St. Ignatius Parish).  In general, the 'T' runs from 5:00am-12:45am.

Q.  What if I need to print a boarding pass for my flight out of Boston?

The Institute staff realizes that most of the Institute's participants will be arriving and departing by airplane.  Considering this, accommodations to print boarding passes for departing flights can be made with the Institute Staff Graduate Assistant, Kieran Kelly (kieran.kelly@bc.edu).

Q.  What should I do in the case of an emergency?

In the event of an emergency, Boston College police can be reached at 617.552.4444
