In keeping with the Lynch School of Education's mission to expand students' imagination, enhance the human condition and to make the world more just, the Office of Practicum Experiences & Teacher Induction has a rich and long history of collaborative partnerships with Boston, Newton and Brookline Public Schools, as well as with Catholic, private and charter schools in the greater Boston area serving increasingly diverse children and their families. 

These partnerships include carefully selected field placements for pre-service candidates, and numerous action research projects, urban immersion site based courses, professional development opportunities for in-service teachers, administrators and support professionals in schools and community based organizations. Boston College supports these partnerships through competitively awarded national grants that include, in recent years, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, National Science Foundation, and Title III funding from the United States Department of Education.

"At the Lynch School, you hear the mantra: reflection, reflection, reflection!  I reflected with my cooperating teacher and more formally with my University supervisor who encouraged me and supported my colleagues in the Donovan Urban Scholars Program. I had the support of a cohort that was growing with me. Another unique aspect of my student teaching experience was the opportunity to participate in an internship to focus on how to better serve English Language Learners. I traveled to classes both inside and outside my content area and learned strategies to support diverse learners."
