Practicum and Internship

master of arts (m.a.) in counseling

Practicum and internship placements are major components of each student's experience in the Master's Program. The hands-on training contributes to a better understanding of the role of mental health or school counselors as well as providing the opportunity to develop and practice counseling skills. The Internship for the mental health counselors and Practicum for the school counselors occur during the second year of the program and are supervised in either their Internship or Practicum seminar, respectively. This seminar includes group supervision, case presentations, and interpersonal support during the internship/practicum experience.

The Practicum and Internship Director, Dr. Sandra Morse, guides the Masters students through the Practicum and Internship placements. Every effort is made to identify practicum and internship sites that are consistent with a students goals and level of experience.
