Description of Programs and Mission
Ranked among the top 20 Schools of Education by "U.S. News and World Report" the Lynch School of Education offers two Master's degree programs in counseling, as well as a joint degree program:
Mental Health Counseling
School Counseling
Joint Degree Program with Pastoral Ministry
The program tracks are differentiated in terms of whether a student desires to work in a mental health agency or a school setting as a school guidance counselor.
These two-year programs provide training in contemporary counseling; a social justice perspective; best practices in school, mental health, and pastoral counseling; practica/internships; and exposure to research at the forefront of the counseling profession.
Programs are designed to prepare students for a variety of careers. Students may also further develop their skills and knowledge through the Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D. programs.
Through excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service, the Lynch School - and the counseling program - aspire to enhance the human condition by promoting a world of greater equity and opportunity.
