Undergraduate alumni notes
Below is a sampling of achievements and advancements by Lynch School undergraduate alumni, in keeping with the theme of this edition. The next edition of Colloquia will also feature graduate alumni accomplishments.
Majoring in teaching and human development at the Lynch School opens the door to a range of career possibilities.
Of the 2008 graduating class, approximately 77 percent accepted teaching positions, 76 percent of which are in Massachusetts and 24 percent in Boston. Lynch School graduates teach across the country, with placements such as Patrick Bittorf '09 at the Chicago Inner City Teaching Corps and Elizabeth Fountain '09 at the Alliance for Catholic Education Program (ACE) at Notre Dame in Indiana.
Jaime Crowley '91, MA '96, assistant principal at Rhode Island's Mount Hope High School, was recently awarded a $25,000 Milken Educator Award for improving student performance. Read more »
Lynch School graduates have found countless ways in addition to teaching to combine their academic training in education and human development with a variety of career interests. Meghan Battle '09, for example, is designing and leading a women's health initiative at the Jesuit Romero Center in Cambodia. Abigail Humphrey '09 is a tour organizer with EF Cambridge, an international education organization; Alexandra Faklis '08 works in advancement at the Harvard Business School; Catherine Halsey '08 works at Scholastic in New York City; Marisa Ventura '05 is a human resources specialist at The Conti Group; Jessica Supernaw '03 is an associate at Alston & Bird LLP in New York City; Nathanael Connors ’08 is the director of communications at Pope John Paul II Catholic Academy; and Abigail (Garrison) Dunkin '99 works at Sports Illustrated for Children in New York City.
Chris Napolitano is pursuing a Ph.D. at Tufts University. Many of our graduates pursue graduate studies—approximately 11 percent of the 2008 class are in graduate school and 66 students are completing the fifth year program at the Lynch School.
