Audrey Friedman named 2009 Massachusetts Carnegie Professor of the Year

Audrey FriedmanAudrey Friedman, associate professor of teacher education, special education, and curriculum instruction, was named “2009 Massachusetts Professor of the Year” by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. The award is sponsored by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Karen Coyle Aylward ’99, a former student of Friedman’s, was also honored last year with a Boston Educator of the Year Award by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Boston school officials.  View video »

Alumni notes

Of the 2008 graduating class, approximately 77 percent accepted teaching positions, 76 percent of which are in Massachusetts and 24 percent in Boston. Lynch School graduates teach across the country, with placements such as Patrick Bittorf '09 at the Chicago Inner City Teaching Corps and Elizabeth Fountain '09 at the Alliance for Catholic Education Program (ACE) at Notre Dame in Indiana.
