Newton, MA--Boston College Law School is pleased to announce that second-year law student H. Will Mak was awarded the Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts (AALAM) 2011 Scholarship. He was presented with the award at the AALAM Annual Banquet in April.

Mak's work is an example of his desire to serve the Asian-American community. While an undergraduate at Harvard, Mak served as Executive Director of the Harvard Small Claims Advisory Service (SCAS), where he saw a need among non-English speaking clients who were unable to represent themselves in court.  In response, he founded a satellite office in Boston Chinatown at the Chinese Progressive Association.

After college, Mak served as a Fulbright Scholar to China, where he conducted a research project on Chinese mediation as an alternative to U.S. litigation.

Mak currently serves on the board of directors for the Harvard Asian-American Alumni Alliance, and helped organize a four-day inaugural Summit for Asian-American leaders in Cambridge.  Over the summer, he plans on working as a summer associate at McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton.

AALAM is a non-profit organization of over 250 Asian American lawyers, judges, and law professors.  For more information, you can visit the AALAM website at www.aalam.org
