Newton, MA--Professor Robert C. Berry, a member of the BC Law faculty from 1971-2006, passed away on Monday, November 21. He was 75.

Berry was a well-known expert in contracts and sports and entertainment law, and created the first sports law course in the country during his time at Boston College. He was a frequent media commentator on sports law and entertainment, and was a consultant on salary arbitration issues with Major League Baseball. His publications included Sports Law and Regulation (with Matthew Mitten, Timothy Davis, and Rodney Smith) and Law and Business of the Entertainment Industries (with Donald E. Biederman, Martin E. Silfen, Edward P. Pierson, and Jeanne A. Glasser).

Berry received his A.B. from the University of Missouri and an LL.B. from Harvard University. Prior to arriving at BC Law, he taught at the University of Florida and Wayne State University. Berry was internationally known for his extensive knowledge and commitment to the field of sports law, as well his kindness and his sense of humor, and was often mentioned by students as one of their favorite professors.
