Second-Year Student Takes Home MBLA Award
4/26/10—Boston College Law School is pleased to announce that second-year student Kelli Powell has been awarded the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association’s first annual Judge Reginald C. Lindsay Public Service Law Book Award. The award was given out at the MBLA’s Annual Gala, held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel on April 22.
"I'm so proud of Kelli for her public service efforts," said Dean for Students Norah Wylie. "It is a great honor for a BC Law student to receive the inaugural award named for Judge Reginald Lindsay, a distinguished and beloved jurist who died long before his time. This award brings some much deserved recognition Kelli's way, and I expect many more great things from her in the future."
Since 1973, the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association (MBLA) has provided a valuable network and visible presence for attorneys of color within the Massachusetts legal community.
The MBLA is responsible for providing its membership professional development and career advancement through trainings, continued education and mentorship programs.
The MBLA also sponsors forums on current topics of interest to persons in the legal community, and seeks collaborations with other bar associations and professional organizations, particularly in interest of providing services to the communities of color.
