Cassidy to Moderate US District Court Seminar

12/10/09--Boston College Law Professor and Academic Dean Michael Cassidy will moderate the United States District Court's seminar on Federal Criminal Discovery Practice and Procedure. The seminar will take place on Wednesday, December 16 from 4-6 pm at Boston's John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse on the Fan Pier. A reception will follow.

The seminar presents a unique opportunity to hear seasoned fedeal prosecutors, judges, and criminal defense attorneys talk about the daily issues of federal criminal discovery. Professor Cassidy will lead a panel discussion of the practical application of the cases and rules governing federal discovery to a series of hypotheticals presenting common factual scenarios. Participants will learn what is material to criminal defense attorneys, what approaches to discovery are taken by experienced prosecutors, legal and practical considerations affecting the timing of disclosures, among other things.
