8/29/08--Boston College Law School is pleased to welcome two new additions to the Law School, Professor Brian Quinn and Director of Advocacy Programs Rosemary Daly, who begin their careers in the fall of 2008.

"This is an important first step in strengthening our business law curriculum," said BC Law Dean John H. Garvey of the hiring of Quinn.  "Brian is a dynamic teacher and scholar, and will be a wonderful addition to our faculty."

Quinn, previously a Teaching Fellow at Stanford Law School, holds his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, a Masters of Public Policy form Harvard, and his J.D. from Stanford Law school.  Prior to his position at Stanford, he was an associate at Cooley Godward in Palo Alto, where he represented public and private technology clients in merger and acquisitions transactions. He has served as a country coordinator for the Harvard Institute for International Development, and as a legislative aide to Senator Edward M. Kennedy.

At BC Law, Quinn will focus on Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions. In his second year he will add an innovative course called the "Art of the Deal," which he has taught at Stanford Law School, and which brings in entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to talk to students about strategic and pragmatic issues confronted by corporate lawyers in financing and mergers.

New Director of Advocacy Programs Rosemary Daly will be in charge of coordinating all internal and external law school competitions, and supervising the work of the Board of Student Advisors. She will be working closely with the Hon. Lynda Connolly, Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Trial Court and Alumni Board member in charge of Advocacy Programs, to identify volunteers for the program.

"I am delighted that we were able to convince someone with Rosemary's extensive experience to join our adjunct faculty in this important role," said Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Michael Cassidy.

Daly, a 1987 graduate of BC Law and an active alumnus, had previously served on the School's Alumni Council and the Law Day Committee.  Daly recently retired after twenty one years of state service, where she had a distinguished career as an appellate attorney, working for both the Middlesex and Suffolk County District Attorney offices.  At the Suffolk DA's office, Rosemary served both as Chief of the Appellate Division and Chief of Training and Ethics.
