4/25/08--Boston College Law School is pleased to announce that BC Law Frederick Douglass Moot Court team member Bianca Forde won Best Oralist at the national competition. The team of Forde and Brian Wong won the Northeast Regional competition in New Jersey in February, and advanced to the quarterfinal round of nationals in Detroit last month before losing a close match to a team from Georgetown University.

The competition, hosted by the Black Law Students Association, involved a problem of educational disability and student free speech rights.

This is only the second time in over 20 years that a Boston College team has made it to the national level of the Frederick Douglass competition.  Their coach, Assistant Clinical Professor Maritza Karmely, traveled with them to Detroit.
