3/28/08--Boston College Law School is pleased to announce that European Union Law Moot Court Team member John Martin won the Best Advocate Award at the recent finals of the 48-team competition.  The BC Law team of third-year students Kate Bartlett, John Martin, Ramiz Shlah and David Bartholomew advanced all the way to the finals before losing a close match to the team from Zagreb.

"The final was hotly contested," said Team Coach Rob McGill. "I'm very proud of our team. I heard many complimentary things from the judges, competitors and other coaches. BC is fast developing the reputation of being one of the strongest American teams year after year."

Boston College Law School has competed in the EU Law Moot Court Competition since 2004-2005.  This is the farthest a BC Law team has ever advanced.  BC hosted the American regional round of the competition in 2006.

This is the eighteenth annual competition run by the European Law Moot Court Society and it has become one of the largest moot court competitions in the world.  It has enjoyed the institutional support and encouragement of the European Court of Justice for eighteen years. Elite students from Europe and the United States simulate arguments in the European Court of Justice.  For more information about the competition, please refer to www.elmc.org.
