Frederick Douglass Team Wins Regionals

2/18/08--The BC Law team of Bianca Forde and Brian Wong won the Northeast Regional competition, held last week in Newark, New Jersey.

2/18/08--Boston College Law School is pleased to announce that the BC Law Frederick Douglass Moot Court team of Bianca Forde and Brian Wong won the Northeast Regional competition, held last week in Newark, New Jersey.  The BC Law team came in first out of a field of 38, beating Columbia Law School in the finals.  The second BC Law Team of Abra Mason and Lori Boozer made it to the sweet sixteen of the competition.

"Congratulations to both Douglass teams on outstanding performances," said BC Law Director of Advocacy Programs Thomas Carey.  "We wish Bianca and Brian luck in the next round!"

Forde and Wong will be competing at the Frederick Douglass Moot Court national finals in Detroit at the end of March.

"BC was extremely well represented by these two teams, and we are very proud of them," said Michael Cassidy, BC Law Dean of Academic Affairs.  "I'd also like to congratulate Professor Maritza Karmely--it was her first year as a moot court team coach at BC, and she did a simply amazing job."

The Frederick Douglass Moot Court competition is sponsored by the National Black Law Students Association.
